Finding Face and Place: Poetic Inertia Framed
The space held me as I created an installation in a hallway. It was a long, narrow, and irregular one with twelve doors located between an art museum and a private day school. My challenge was to make the space be perceived as the artwork with numerous parts. I also wanted the viewer to be a part of the installation.
During the process I became aware of the qualities of the space including its permanent structural elements. I painted walls, placed words, letters, objects, and artwork in a way to encourage the viewer to become more aware of the exhibition space and its shape as well as the exhibit.
